Start with what you fill

Define the filling system
Nominal volume, headspace, neck diameter, closure style and filling-line clearances affect which existing models are practical.
Review handling and distribution
Case packing, pallet pattern, storage temperature and transport conditions should be considered before approving a container.
Test before production
